The world's first 3D-printed concrete houses are beginning to be built and are expected to be ready for occupation in 2019.
5 futuristic houses are going to be built, as part of the Project Milestone, in Eindhoven, Netherlands. 4 of which will have multiple floors. Project Milestone is a joint venture between several parties, including the municipality of Eindhoven, Eindhoven University of Technology, Van Wijnen, Vesteda, Saint Gobain-Weber Beamix and Witteveen+Bos.
The properties are going to be under close monitoring to ensure they comply with all the building regulations and meet all the building standards, including cost, comfort, quality and design.
The project will build housing with unique shapes and irregular features which will demonstrate 3D-printing’s adaptivity to various sizes and shapes.
“The design aims at a high level of quality and sustainability. For example, the houses will not have a natural gas connection, which is quite rare in the Netherlands.”
